Obituary of Vincent J. Rasa

Please share a memory of Vincent to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vincent J. Rasa, Jr. Born to Vincent & Georgia his early years were in a humble 2 story home in Paterson he shared with Jean, David, Sharon and Georgia. Aunt Ethelene and Uncle Mike Lived downstairs with Cousins Linda, Micky and Wayne and it was on their porch the Easter Bunny would deliver the goods to an old metal milk box tucked away in the corner. Grandma and Grandpa Lived next store and Aunt Jay & Uncle Bob lived next door to them with his 5 cousins Gary, Glen, Steve, Robert and Karen. The neighborhood was filled with young children playing ball, hiking to Baldy Rock Visiting Otellio’s on Halloween and feeding the deer in Westside Park. He was known as “Menace,” “Troubles” and “Mr. McGoo” by those who knew him best. He was fearless and a lover of horses and cowboys and all the things that went with them. From Lassie to the Lone Ranger and RinTinTin to Mr. Ed his love for nature, animals, fishing, hunting, and horses only grew larger each year of his life. After a family move to Fair Lawn he followed in Dad’s footsteps and became a Real Estate Broker and owner of Sherlock Home Inspectors. Before he was 30 years young he earned his First million dollars. His pockets were full and his heart fuller. The more he earned…the more He gave. He gave eggs from his own pastured chickens, tomatoes he grew on his own soil, advice to his young nieces and nephews and ministered “the Word” to all he met. His infectious smile could melt the hardest hearts and the coldest souls. His interests grew in photography, antiquing, and later developed several small Gentleman Farms where he lovingly tended to his pigs and cows and horses and dogs. He was a “can do” guy. He was able to see a way…when others said there was none. An adoring Uncle, a creative and marketing genius who lived on the edge and relished every adventure he took. As life took its twists and turns his bounty changed from material possessions to spiritual humility and a benevolent heart. He loved his nephews and nieces as if they were his own. In later years he became an ardent history lover and when asked his favorite films would say “Saving Private Ryan” and “We are soldiers.” As his physical health waned he ministered to doctors and nurses and aides and janitors alike in every hospital room he found himself in. He was a brother who was ready and willing to lend a hand and a dollar when he had it and even when he didn’t. He relished in the accomplishments and success of all he loved. Nine years ago he married Diane who was a partner in life who shared his zest, his belief in Miracles and the love for the Lord. Together they blessed many and today we remember how blessed we are because he touched our lives and shared his gifts. He was a light brighter than most and had a heart that he gave to the poor and the meek and the hurting and the sick. He was a man’s man and a little boy who still believed in Santa Claus and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Somehow Rest In Peace just doesn’t seem quite right to say. We are sure he’s improving the infrastructure in heaven, redesigning God’s Flower beds and giving God some advice on how to get more productivity out of his Angels. To say you will be missed is not enough. There is a place in our hearts that only this Cowboy can fill. Giddie up and ride um high! Vincent was a self employed real estate broker and developer.  He was a member of Faith Fellowship Ministries in Sayreville, NJ.  Beloved husband of Diane Mickell-Rasa.
